2/8/2012   Book Discussion - "Half Broke Horses"
This is the true story of Lily Casey Smith, a woman of indomitable spirit whose life of hardscrabble drudgery never kept her down. While still a child she helped her father break horses, left home at 15 to teach in a frontier town, and survived the hardships of the Great Depression as a wife and mother. Join us in the Carnegie Wing Gallery at John McIntire Library as we display the artwork of the talented local couple Pat and Bill Bachert. There will be an opening reception on Saturday, February 11th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM to which the public is invited. The gallery space is open Monday-Friday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and has free admission.

2/12/2012   Page to Stage - M*A*S*H*
It began as a novel by Richard Hooker, became an award winning motion picture, won even more awards as a beloved television series, and now comes to the local stage when Zanesville Community Theatre presents "M*A*S*H*". Participants will be loaned a copy of the novel to read, then will attend the February 12th matinee performance by ZCT at their theatre on Findley Avenue. Following the performance, the cast and crew will join us for a discussion on how they took M*A*S*H* from page to stage. Registration is required, limited and free of charge. 2/18/2012   Souhteastern Ohio Paranormal Investigators Seminar
Most of us find a good ghost story very hard to pass up. We are continually hearing reports of situations or occurrences in which people believe that "ghosts" or "spirits" have played a part. The public is invited to this demonstration of how to identify phenomena and explanation of the scientific tools used by the Southeastern Ohio Paranormal Investigative(SEOPI)team. There will also be a question and answer session and a discussion of sites in Muskingum County and the surrounding tri-state area. This program is free of charge and open to the public. 2/24/2012   Teen Share Session - Wii, Read, Recommend & WIN!
Teens are invited to bring a friend and make some new ones when we get together to play some Wii games. Those attending who have read a book and made a recommendation will receive a prize. "Reader's Recommendation" forms are available at the public service desk. 2/25/2012   Around the World LEGO Tournament
LEGO lovers in grades 4-12 are invited to bring their LEGOs and their imaginations to the John McIntire Library and create their own designs based on our "Around the World" theme. Participating teams can consist of one, two or three members and each team will receive one US Postal Ready box (12"x10"x8") to fill with their own loose LEGOs. Judges will select first and second place winners based on interpretation of the theme, creativity and construction. First place team members will each receive a $20 gift card while the second place team members will each receive a $10 gift card. The winning entries will be displayed at John McIntire Library for two weeks following the tournament. Complete rules are available at the Reference Desk at John McIntire Library and at each of the branch libraries. Registration is required, limited and free of charge. Registration for the 8 week Spring Story Time Session opens Tuesday, February 21, 2012. Preschool Story Time will be presented at John McIntire Library, Dresden Branch Library, Duncan Falls/Philo Branch Library and the New Concord Branch Library. Additionally, Baby Story Time, Toddler Story Time and Bedtime Story Time will be offered at John McIntire Library.
