Children's Veterans Day Display

The Muskingum County Veterans Day Committee has invited area 5th grade students to write an essay or create a visual media piece of art that expresses their feelings about what it means to be a veteran. The winners will be announced at Salute to Veterans - an event for 5th grade students to be held at Secrest Auditorium to honor veterans and enhance awareness of what being a veteran means.

Playing All the Keys: The Life of Walter F. Anderson

Be sure not to miss this terrific discussion of one of Zanesville's most accomplished native sons. The grandson of freed slaves, Walter F. Anderson was born in Zanesville on May 12, 1915 to a family of very modest means. Considered a musical prodigy even at an early age, he earned a full scholarship to the Oberlin College Conservatory of Music and went on to become the first African American to head a music department at a non-black college in America.
